Keeping Focused

I heard a story the other day.

A man was walking through an airport terminal and saw a sign on the wall that read Your Future: Twenty Five Cents.

Below it was a small machine.

The man dug in his pocket for a quarter and put in the slot. After a few seconds a piece of paper came out

Your name is John Smith. You are on the 2:20 PM flight to Chicago.

The man was amazed. He looked around and couldn't quite figure out how a small, square box knew so much about him.

He found another quarter, put it in the slot and waited.

Your name is John Smith. You are on the 2:20 PM flight to Chicago.

The man began stopping other travelers. Did they know how this, this, this thing worked and how did it know so much about him?

Most people shook their heads.

A few moved away in a hurry.

The man reached for another quarter and to his dismay he was out of change.

He hurried to a news stand on the other side of the terminal. He returned with a handful of quarters.

Eagerly and expectantly he pushed a quarter into the slot.

Your name is John Smith. You just missed the  2:20 PM flight to Chicago.
